Veteran turns 100

Tyler—World War II U.S. Marine Corps veteran Weldon Kenneth Bowen, born in Luling, Texas, turns 100 on Sept. 5, 2026. Enlisting in August 1945, Mr. Bowen served at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, WA, earning the Good Conduct Medal and Expert Rifleman designation before his honorable discharge in 1946. 

To celebrate his 100th birthday, he has a simple wish: to receive 100 birthday cards.
