Couple renews wedding vows

Jimmy and Margaret Helmuth recently commemorated their 50th wedding anniversary by renewing their vows in the Philippines.

The two met at Calvary Baptist Church in Tyler on Dec. 23, 1973. They were married by Johnny Beard in the same church on June 22, 1974.

"I was in flight school with the Navy, So I came back and got married," Jimmy said.

Jimmy graduated from Winona High School in '69, and Margaret graduated from John Tyler High School in '73.

"We've been around a while," Jimmy said.
