Lindale—The Lindale Independent School District announced the hiring of Mrs. Natalie Brown as the new assistant principal of Velma Penny Elementary.

Brown brings more than two decades of experience in elementary education and educational leadership to her new role. Her career began at Winona ISD, where she taught kindergarten for 10 years before joining Lindale ISD as a kindergarten teacher. She spent six years serving Lindale students and families before accepting an assistant principal position at a second- and third-grade campus in Van ISD, where she has served for the past five years.

For Brown, the opportunity to return to Lindale ISD is both professional and personal.

“We have lived in Lindale for 22 years, and we moved here for this amazing school district,” Brown said. “Our oldest son graduated from Lindale High School in 2025, and our youngest will be a junior this school year. I feel like I’m coming home, and it feels great.”

Brown expressed gratitude for the opportunity to rejoin the district where she spent a significant portion of her teaching career.

“Thank you, Lindale ISD, for welcoming me back home with open arms,” Brown said. “Once an Eagle, always an Eagle!”

Superintendent Stan Surratt said Brown’s experience, leadership, and commitment to students made her an outstanding choice for the position.

“We are very excited that Mrs. Brown is coming home and will join our administrative team,” Surratt said. “She was a great teacher for Lindale ISD for many years before leaving to take an administrative job in a neighboring district. She now returns with great experience and is eager to help Velma Penny Elementary students find great success.”

Brown earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas at Tyler.
