Hideaway—The Lindale Chamber of Commerce hosted the Altra Financial Advisor’s Golf Tournament at the Hideaway Golf Club on Sept. 16.

“The goal was to have a great day on the golf course and to raise money for the Lindale Chamber. We were very successful,” Shelbie Glover, president and CEO of the Lindale Chamber of Commerce, said.

“This was the first time we had 38 teams on the course. We tried a new concept this year using all 27 holes here at Hideaway. We were able to increase our field and so we were a sold-out tournament this year. We had a four-person scramble, and the lowest in each flight won first place.”

The money raised from the tournament covers daily expenses for the chamber.

“The golf tournament is the only event that we do that’s dedicated to operating expenses to run the chamber,” Glover said. “We have a four-person staff, and we have to keep the lights on and continue our mission and projects. Our mission at the chamber is to promote the economic welfare of the community.”

“The Lindale Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament supports all businesses in the Lindale plus area,” Jeremiah Cagle, owner of Lindale Candy Company, said.

“This is a great course. Billy Adams takes tremendous care of it. The course is in fantastic shape. I feel like it’s one of the best kept courses in East Texas.

“I shot well. We had the foresight to have some great teammates. I can say we played a few of my balls today. So, I feel like as team captain, I was able to contribute.

“We got second place in our flight. We had a great time. [We were] fortunate to have some great weather and an even better environment. It was a scramble, so I had a couple of good shots and had a good team with even better shots,” Cagle said.
