7 Lindale Cross Country runners earn academic All-State honors

by Stephen Hunt

Lindale—Seven members of the Lindale High School cross country team have earned recognition for classroom excellence from the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) as part of the 2025-26 THSCA Academic All-State Teams.

Four student-athletes: Landon Greb, Abbigail Hanley, Eric Reyes, and James Weaver, earned first-team recognition while three others: Josue Gonzalez, Abigail Kelley, and Zachary Sheppa, earned second-team recognition.

Senior athletes, trainers and managers can be nominated for recognition provided they are in good standing with their team(s) and they excel at grade point average (GPA), class rank, and ACT/SAT scores.

Nominees must have an overall GPA of 92 or higher on the 100-point scale and be of good moral character. There are four levels of recognition: elite athletes have a near perfect score in all three areas (GPA, class rank, and ACT/SAT scores) while other levels of recognition are first-team, second-team, and honorable mention.
